27 May 2010Are there particular listed religions to which you would have to belong to be exempt? Or would having a personal religious belief against the kind of health care covered by health insurance be enough?
This is about reference of insurance questions information.

Well Christian Scientists (ironic considering the name) shun medicine.

I have no idea, but I would assume that it has to be a “sincerely held” belief, meaning you cannot use religion as an excuse. If you have ever had any type of health insurance, or received any type of non-herbal medical care, then you would probably not be eligible.

Well are you sure you will never get sick? Cause if you do not get insurance and you get sick or need surgery or tests – what will you do? You would end up paying the whole bill yourself plus the fine for not having it. Not cost effective in my book. If you get this type of exemption and you show up at the hospital it will prove that you lied about it too..

It will likely depend upon which religious group provide enough cash to a Democrat on the Tax writing committee. Remember tax exemptions are authorized by Congress by defined by the every changing and politically active IRS staff.
You could be a one man Religion who gets an exemption. Or you could be a historic religion that has over 50 million member but get nearly zero tax exemption because the IRS defines your core beliefs to be “political” in nature.
Perhaps we should abolish the IRS (along with the SEC, DEA, TSA, and BATFE) and just return to the Founding Fathers’ original ideas of individual privacy and a direct tax proportionate to the population base on trade.
