Question regarding Auto Insurance settlement procedure. . . ?

In: Automotive Insurance

My lawyer and I settled on an ammount from State Farm last week. She said that she will get the paperwork going. Today I called her to make sure she talked to a lady from my doctor regarding a bill, she told me that she is waiting for the check to come in, and she will call me then.

I thought that I needed to sign paperwork from the insurance company before they send a check..isn’t this right? Shouldn’t i have signed something?
Why do they let people put that sales crap on here? There ha sgot to be a way to kick these people of. Alot of time what they sell does not even relate to the question

You sign the paperwork when you get the check. Your verbal agreement is enough.

State Farm, as like all insurance companies, would require that you sign a Release, prior to them issuing any checks.

By signing the release you are stating that you are accepting the amount they offered, and that you are releasing state farm and their insured from any other claims, and will not pursue them for any more money.

It is possible that your lawyer may have signed on your behalf. But your lawyer would have had to have Power of Attorney over you. You would have to originally signed a Power of Attorney stating your lawyer can act and answer on your behalf without you present.
