Find Good Info
I am 21. I recently got laid off from a downsizing automotive warehouse.
I cannot collect unemployment because I have not worked 16 months. I was formerly a student, and only had this job for 8 months.
I am unemployed and cannot afford health care, im already struggling with a loan and a contract phone bill.
Im sitting here with a severe toothache, caused by God knows what. I need to see a dentist, but there is NOWAY in hell I can afford too.. wtf do I do??
This is about reference of insurance questions information.

“Health Centers provide health and dental care to people of all ages, whether or not they have health insurance or the money to pay for health care.
Find the Health Center closest to you
Hill-Burton Free & Reduced Cost Care at hospitals, nursing homes and other facilities are required to provide a specific amount of free or below cost health care to people unable to pay. Eligibility is based on the size of your family and your income. You apply for Hill-Burton care at the facility where you were or will be treated.
More about Hill-Burton and find facilities in your State “http://www.hrsa.gov/help/default.htm
Note that says DENTAL as well as health care. Also you may be able to find a community college with a dental hygienist program–they work with REAL dentists on REAL problems and you pay a greatly reduced cost.
If there is a dental SCHOOL in your area, also reduced cost work.
Also call around. I have a dentist who takes NO dental insurance or such. Locally crowns go for $975 and HE charges $500 because he doesn’t have other people telling him how to run his business.
With those options, should be something that will work. Also could try calling county health or your old college and find out if they have any bright ideas for your area as I don’t know anything about MI, but the above solutions work anywhere in the US.
Good luck.

I’m sorry about the job loss. Very tough economy out there. You might want to check out a discount dental program. I know you are hurting for cash but you can get on a program for as little as $14.95/month and benefits start immediately. You could sign up on line, go to the dentist tomorrow and get up to an 80% discount. If you couldn’t afford to keep the plan after that at least you could get to the dentist and get the toothache taken care of now. I hope this helps and that you feel better soon. Good luck in finding a new job as well!

you’re gonna hate me for this one. call your dentist, tell them the situation. they really don’t care about doing the work, and if you are honest, they will more than likely work out a workable payment plan that you can afford. yes, i know, it sucks. but they will work with you!
in the mean time, take two ibproufen, or acetometophin, or aleve ( i don’t know the generic for this) and use a heating pad on your cheek (or a warm wash cloth). it rushes blood the the area to help to heal faster. swish around some peroxide, floss really well, and then use some more peroxide. my mom swears that it loosens up whatever’s caught in there giving you so much trouble. just don’t don’t DON’T swallow! rinse with warm water right afterwards.
feel better, yes, i know, it sucks. it will get better for you!

Definitely check out some schools. I get my teeth cleaned at the dental hygienist program at my old college because of the savings. It either costs me $10 a semester or nothing based on their mood lol. My industry I went to college for never got me anywhere so I still use this as it’s the only way to keep up on things.
