Find Good Info
What do I need to know before I look into this? I know you have to be state licensed and pass a test, can you self study for this test? I’m not sure I exactly have the name of the career correct but I’m talking about the guy who usually works in a body shop or car dealership and just gives you an estimate on your vehicle after you’ve been in a accident. Do these guys have college degrees or is one needed for this profession? Any information at all would be valuable. Thanks.
This is about reference of insurance questions information.

That has nothing to do with insurance honey. That is just some dude @ a body shop. An adjuster is the person that writes the check, applies your deductible, and the person that handles the entire claim.

In some states, you have to do classwork, in others, just pass the test.
That body shop guy is NOT a claims adjuster. The claims adjuster both figures out the cost of repair, AND applies policy terms to it – deductibles, settlement values, conditions, etc.
If all you want to do is the appraisal, in most states you do NOT need a license. The guys that work in the body shops, are doing appraisals.
You do NOT need a college degree – but as with everything else in this world, the guy with the bachelor’s degree gets hired before the guy without one.
