Being An Uninsured Pregnant Visitor In Usa, Can I Get Any Insurance Or Financial Aid For Maternity Expenses?

In: Finance and Insurance

I came to visit my sis-in-law in Mew York during my my 5th month with a plan to go back within 4 weeks. I grew complications and have been instructed by the Doc to not fly and stay home. I’m already paying the high doctor’s fees but simply can’t afford the huge expense of hospital and lab. What do I do? Any Govt. aid program or private insurance program available??

Your embassy should be able to help, plus some hospitals will take foreign insurance companies during emergencies. You should also try contacting hospitals and explain to them your situation. If you find a hospital that will take your insurance they can help you find a doctor that can. Also some hospitals if you talk to them in advance will give you a discount on your services. For your doctors appointments I would try going to an Aunt Marthas or finding a clinic that does payment on a sliding fee scale. When you contact the hospital make sure its head of billing because they are the only ones who can truly help you or atleast direct you to the correct person to talk to about this.

Welfare is easier to get for people that are not US citizens then it is for the ones that have always lived here……

If your country has an embassy here, I would contact them.
