auto insurance claims?

In: Automotive Insurance

I live in Florida. My car accident was due to the person running a Red light. He was at fault as stated in the police report. The other party’s insurance is taking their time to settle our claim. My question is: what is the time limit for an insurance claim to be settled?

the other insurance company can take up two a year or two to settle. They is no time frame for them to make a decision.

I assure you that no adjuster wants to look at your file any longer than they have to but they have to gather information and estimates and reports, etc and the people may be dragging their feet in getting this info back to the adjuster, especially doctors and hospitals also their insured may not be being cooperative. Call the adjuster and ask if there is anything you can do to help speed up the process.

I’m not sure what needs to be settled; property damage claim or Bodily Injury claim? The property damage claim should be resolved pretty quickly if they’ve seen your car. If you’re injured they need all of your medical records and your treatment has to be complete. How long ago did this happen? Hard to answer your question, but there is no time limit. You have a time limit however, and it’s call the Statute of Limitations, which is the period of time you have to settle your claim. The insurance company really just has to make attempts to get everything they need to settle your claim timely.
