15 May 2010I can understand car insurance being mandated by the state IF you choose to buy a car and drive around in it. IF you choose to use public transportation instead, you are not required by the state to buy car insurance.
Now what business does the government have to tell me that I HAVE to buy health insurance???
It’s unconstitutional.
This is about reference of insurance questions information.

I don’t intend to participate in Government Medical.
The Government may redirect my taxes toward that program but, beyond that, I won’t be participating.

What is the point of whining about this issue if you are ALREADY going to buy health care now? If you are choosing to health care now, why cry that they are making you?
most people’s responses show that they have not read the bill and only listen to one channel.

It’s tit for tat. Depends on how you read the Constitution.
The government has the right to control commerce, and healthcare is big business — a form of commerce.
You know, loose interpretation vs. strict.

That’s one place where they should not have listened to the Republicans. If the republicans hadn’t gotten this gross unconstitutional mandate in the bill, fox news would have no reason to oppose it, and the people could’ve learned about the true nature of the bill and embraced it. Oh well.

Yes it is unconstitutional. The government has run rogue for a while now and the citizens have put up with it, because they have been dumbed down and led to believe its “for their protection”…look at the bailout (700billion) and that didnt go through the first time either, then they got the bribes going with the lobbyists, and (MAGIC) it went through……same as healthcare.
The BANKS wrote the bailout……Health INSURANCE companies wrote the healthcare bill
The government is mixing too much with corporate interests.

“The government has the right to control commerce, and healthcare is big business — a form of commerce.”
Your missing the picture, or your just being a democrat and leaving out details. The unconstitutional part is requiring everyone to purchase a product. It has nothing to do with controlling commerce. Unless you think people are commerce?

You do know that the individual mandate was originally a REPUBLICAN idea back when Bush 41 was President, don’t you? Democrats wanted an employer mandate, to require all companies to pay for insurance, but Republicans threw a temper tantrum (what else is new?) and cried that their individual mandate plan was better…
The federal government can already tell you to:
1) Appear for jury duty in federal court, losing a day’s pay (or more)
2) Register for Selective Service, possibly requiring you to lose a job and your life if called to duty
So buying health insurance, which most of us have already done, seems minor.

This isn’t a matter of unconstitutional or not in my eyes. This is a matter of religion and personal liberty. I do not like the idea of abortion. While abortion should not be illegal, I should not have to pay for it.
I feel very strongly about that. I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it any more.

Just as with the past 2 decades of Congresses and Presidents, the Constitution is irrelevant.
We need to stand up. Now.
